The biomechanical behaviour of the structure plays an important role in the function of dental implants. However, information about the influence of framework design on stresses transmitted to the implants and supporting bones and tissues is limited. There are various parameters of a dental implant design structure which determine and affect stress distribution and deformation in surrounding bones. In order to understand the role of thread angles on stress distribution in the surrounding cortical and cancellous bones, four different implant designs with varying thread angles were analyzed using 3D Finite Element Method. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd.
