Steganography is an art of hiding the fact that communication is taking place. It is a process of hiding information inside the stego-media i.e. Image,audio and video. The format of communicating using digital images is most popular because of their frequency of use on the internet. Different applications uses different steganography techniques depending on the criteria level like invisibility of the secret images and few applications require large information in different formats to be hidden. This paper intends to give an overview of image steganography, its uses and techniques. It also attempts to provide steganography techniques suitable for different applications. It also facilitates to send stego image to authenticated users for decrypting the hidden information via social network. © Research India Publications.
