Abstract
This paper presents the design of Folded Cascode Low Noise Amplifier (FC LNA) suitable for GSM (DCS 1800), WCDMA and Bluetooth/WLAN (IEEE 802.11b/g). Modified Derivative Superposition (MDS) method is adopted to FC LNA for meeting the linearity requirements at relatively lower power dissipation compared to other reported multi-standard LNAs. The proposed LNA is designed in UMC 0.18 μm 1P6M MMRF CMOS process. Its performance is studied in the frequency range of 1.8 GHz to 2.48 GHz through simulation. From this study, it is found that for different frequency bands, the gain lie in the range of 12. 5 to 14.1 dB, noise figure varies from 2.1 to 3.1 dB, input return loss is between -10 dB to -15 dB and IIP3 in the range of -6 to -6.5 dBm respectively. The proposed LNA consumes a power of 2.5 mW from a supply voltage of 0.6 V. © 2014 IEEE.
