A variety of alkyl-arenes and cyclohexane were converted to the corresponding ketones with NaClO as the oxidant in the presence of 1-glycyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride-copper(II) complex. This method contains simplified product isolation and catalyst recycling, affording benzylic CH oxidation of alkyl-arenes imparting high yield of ketones. Furthermore, complex could be reused seven times without a significant loss of its catalytic activity. © 2012 Pundlik Rambhau Bhagat.

A novel, effective asymmetric 1-glycyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride-iron(III) [[Gmim]Cl-Fe(III)] complex was synthesized and studied as organocatalyst in asymmetric aldol addition under solvent free condition at 25 C. The hydrophobic group of amino acid favors reagent diffusion toward the chloroglycine moiety increasing the catalytic activity of supported iron complex. This method contains simplified product isolation and catalyst recycling, affording substituted aromatic aldehydes imparting high yield of aldol with excellent stereo-selectivity. This recyclable heterogeneous catalyst provides a simple strategy for the generation of a variety of new CC bonds under environmentally benign condition. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. Some copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu(L)(PPh3)2]X (1-4) [where L = 2-chloro-(5-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-pyridine-2-ylethylene- amine; X = Cl-, CN-, ClO4- and BF4-] have been prepared by the condensation of 3-amino-4-chloro-benzotrifluoride with 2-acetylpyridine followed by the reaction with [Cu(MeCN)2(PPh3)2]Cl, [Cu(MeCN) 2(PPh3)2]CN, [Cu(MeCN)2(PPh 3)2]ClO4 and [Cu(MeCN)2(PPh 3)2]BF4. All the complexes 1-4 were characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, UV-visible and 1H NMR spectral studies. The representative complex of the compound 3 has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction which reveals that the central copper(I) ion assumes highly distorted tetrahedral geometry. All the complexes worked as effective catalyst for the amination of aryl halide. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
