Abstract
--Very few exertions have attempted to renovate electric discharge machining (EDM) into the ecofriendly machining practice. The present EDM process makes use of the hydrocarbon formulated conventional dielectric fluids. These types of fluids during their breakdown phenomenon emit hazardous aerosols, increasing anxieties for operational safety and also ecology. Bio-degradable dielectrics (Green dielectric fluids) have comparable features as that of conventional dielectrics; in addition, it may be also utilized in replacement of conventional dielectrics. The present study targets to explore the influence of natural green dielectric fluids on the EDM of AISI 2507 super duplex stainless steel. Experimentation has been performed on the basis of Taguchi’s L27 orthogonal array (OA) and technique for an order of preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) technique for investigating the optimal machining combinations. The optimum circumstances attained as of this technique recommends enhanced MRR and lower EWR, SR, ROC and Power consumption with the permutations of ecofriendly EDM process like TON=500, TOFF=30, IP=15A, v=40 V and IEG=180 µm. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) measured results identified the key influentialprocess parameters. © 2018, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.. All rights reserved.
