Abstract
This work is based on the actual project management on a live project. It summarizes the various items of works involved and the time schedule in an experimental construction project. The project consists of look ahead programme, backlogs, critical, resource allocation and levelling estimation with cash flow and budgeting. Managing all these humanly is a near impossible task in large construction project. It is necessary to have some automated or semi-automated tools for carrying out these tasks. Primavera management software was used to prepare the time schedule; resource allocation and level checker for resource levelling, look ahead and backlog for project schedule. Additionally AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel were used for estimation, quantity surveying and bar bending schedule since these tools are found to be economical alternatives. Thus, this study high light how a combination of software’s can be effectively used for managing construction projects. © IAEME Publication
