The 4-hydroxy-3-(3-arylacryloyl)quinolin-2(1H)-ones were synthesized from 3-acetyl-4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-one by microwave assisted synthesis, which in turn converted into their corresponding 3-(4,5-dihydro-5-aryl)isoxazol-3-yl)-4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones and 3-(4-styryl)isoxazolo[4,5-c]quinolin-4(5H)-one derivatives. © 2011

Synthesis and characterization of new 3-(4,5-dihydro-5-aryl)isoxazol-3-yl)-4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones and 3-(4-styryl)isoxazolo[4,5-c]quinolin-4(5H)-one derivatives

A few derivatives of 3-(4,5-dihydro-5-aryl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-4- hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ones (5a–j) that are synthesized from 4-hydroxy-3-(3- arylacryloyl)quinolin-2(1H)-ones (4a–j) by microwave-assisted synthesis are screened for their antimicrobial, in silico antimalarial activities. Among the tested compounds 4h and 5d were found to have a potent antimalarial activity than the standards, and the others are found to show considerable antimalarial activity and moderate antimicrobial activity. © Springer Science+Business Media New York 2014.

Synthesis of 4-Hydroxy-2(1H)-Quinolone Derived Chalcones, Pyrazolines and Their Antimicrobial, In Silico Antimalarial Evaluations

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H 10F2N2O, contains one and a half N,N′-bis-(4-fluoro-phen-yl)urea mol-ecules. One of the mol-ecules has crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry. The benzene rings are twisted from each other by dihedral angles of 29.69 (6)° for the mol-ecule in a general position and 89.83 (6)° for the symmetry-generated mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, a pair of inter-molecular N - H⋯O hydrogen bonds link symmetry-related mol-ecules into chains along the b axis, forming R 2 1(6) ring motifs.

N,N′-Bis(4-fluorophenyl)urea

The molecule of the title compound, C11H9NO3, a pharmacologically important quinoline derivative, adopts an overall planar shape. The structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular O - H⋯O=C hydrogen bond, forming an S(6) hydrogen-bonded ring pattern. The O - H⋯O inter-action results in delocalization of the electron density within the dihydro-pyridine ring, as observed for resonance-assisted hydrogen bonds, leading to lengthening of the carbonyl O=C and pyridyl C=C bonds, and shortening of the C - OH bond in this hydrogen-bonded S(6) ring structure. The cooperative inter-molecular N - H⋯O hydrogen bonds cluster mol-ecules into closed dimers, characterized by an R 2 2(8) ring pattern. Aromatic-aromatic stacking inter-actions are also observed in the packing, with an inter-planar distance of 3.352 Å and a slippage of 1.855 Å © International Union of Crystallography 2007.
