Abstract
The Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) have been driven by Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) technology or IEEE 802.11p, which is designed to help drivers travel more safely and reduce the number of fatalities due to road accidents. This paper aims at proposing a novel framework for achieving Intelligent Transport System (ITS) by incorporating On Board Unit (OBU) and Road Side Unit (RSU) communications for Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) modes offering better tracking, seamless handoff and other factors like safety and traffic optimization. Also, the IT'S has enabled to access the cloud based infotainment services during travel in VANET environment. © 2006-2016 Asian Research Publishing Network (ARPN).
