Abstract
Today, industrial structures use steel tubular columns instead of rolled sectionsand concrete columns to support the trusses in order to provide more strength andstiffness. Another advantage of steel tubular section is that it has a higher radius ofgyration than rolled sections hence strength/weight ratio is more. Hence, most of thecontractors prefer steel tubular sections instead of the rolled sections as it is moreeconomical. This review paper mainly investigates the axial load capacity of steelcompression members. About Fifteen literature were collected to study the axialstrength of steel columns and then the same strength was determined using IndianStandard (IS 800-2007) and a comparative study was made between the availableexperimental results with code predictions. © IAEME Publication.
