The concept of ‘smart cities’ is catching up throughout the world including India. Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is an essential component of smart cities. ITS is basically a cyber physical system consisting of transportation systems(mechanical, electrical and electronic sysems) and monitoring computation systems. This paper examines the possible application of data mining/text mining concepts for the improvement of performance, monitoring and providing security to the users of ITS. © IAEME Publication.
