Abstract
A fault is a physical defect that occurs in some part(s) of a system. Transient faults are temporary malfunctioning of the computing units or associated components which lead to production of incorrect results to be computed. These faults vanish if the computation is repeated, as they are temporary. Transient faults are difficult to detect, as they may occur for a single instance and then disappear, so it becomes quite evident to analyze such faults. This paper is about analyzing such faults in terms of their sources of occurrence, their rates of occurrence, their ways of failing the system, their effects on the processors, etc. The comparison of effects of these faults on the parts of uniprocessor is also done. © Research India Publications.
