Abstract
A megaproject is a large scale project that entails a huge number of risks which needs to be identified, assessed and quantified. Megaprojects have also been found to suffer from time overrun, cost overrun and quality deficiency that are the primary project objectives. The reason for such deviation from project objectives is often attributed to a poor knowledge of the dynamic behaviour of megaproject over time and the impact of various risk factors associated within the megaproject environment. This research attempts to model the various technical risks associated with a megaproject construction using System Dynamics tool with stocks, flows and internal feedback loops. The system dynamics modelling is done in Vensim® Software and it is seen from the results that if the probability of occurrence of certain technical risk variable be restricted to 5%, the technical risk as well as project cost increase, rise in duration and quality reduction may be substantially reduced. © IAEME Publication.
