Now-a-days, Micro grid is getting more and more attractive due to its relative advantages. In this paper, the integration of distribution Generation (DG) into the radial distribution network is taken for analysis. Normal load flow analysis cannot be applied to the radial distribution network since the R/X ratio is very high. Hence Forward/Backward sweep load flow analysis is implemented to IEEE 33 bus system. Different distributed energy sources are introduced in different location with same ratings. The results prove that the introduction of DGs considerably reduces the active power loss in the test system and improves the voltage profile. © Springer Science+Business Media Singapore 2017.

Active Power Loss Minimization in Radial Distributed Micro Grid Incorporating Distribution Generators

The exponential increase in electrical energy demand in the current scenario makes the world to turn towards the use of renewable energy sources naturally. The best way to utilize the renewable energy sources is in the form of microgrid. Microgrids are having multiple distributed energy sources and energy storage elements located nearer to the consumer. This paper implements a Fuzzy Logic Controller that efficiently manages the loads in a grid operated Microgrid. In this paper, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) with fuzzy logic controller is used for a grid operated microgrid constituted by solar system and battery. The system consists of Photo Voltaic (PV) system with MPPT controller, Battery with Buck boost converter, Inverter, critical and non-critical loads and utility grid. The simulation results prove that the efficiency of the fuzzy logic controller for different irradiation level with different load conditions has been improved. © 2017 The Authors. Efficient Power Management of Grid operated MicroGrid Using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC)

Biogeography is defined as the investigation of dispersion of biological species in ecosystem and it can analogous to the mathematical optimization problems in the field of engineering, medical science, economic science, sport, business enterprise, town future planning and so on. The proposed Improved Biogeography Based Optimization (IBBO) algorithm is roused on fundamental basis of scientific mechanisms of actual biogeography. This paper purports the IBBO technique to identify the optimal power rating and position of distribution generation (DG) in radial distribution networks. Since the distribution line loss minimization plays a vital role in economic operation of power system, hence the distribution line active power loss is elite as the target fitness (objective) function for the proposed optimization problem. The simulation studies are implemented in MATLAB software for IEEE 33-bus and IEEE 69-bus radial distribution test networks. Results incurred from the purposed approach prove that better active power loss reduction and improved node voltage profiles when compared with other existing methods available in the literature. © 2017 IEEE.
