The security of the user’s characteristics has turned into a dominant significance in the last decade and Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) has been achieved effectively in recent days. In order to, we develop the method for fingerprint authentication using fuzzy system which is based on bell shaped fuzzy number. The minutiae points are obtained from fingerprint image and it’s consider to be a fuzzy number for authentication. The proposed method performs, when two fingerprint images are similar based on minutiae points, in which, it selects the optimal set and reduce the error points between the images using fuzzy rule based system. The fuzzy logic system provides the more adequate description of the given problem. The significance of this procedure is comprised in a lesser number of calculations for fingerprint authentication, which is better than an existing fuzzy number such as triangle and trapezoidal. © Research India Publications.
