An approach for selection of replica nodes to support QOS requirement of applications in VANET

Abstract
Vehicular Ad hoc network (VANET) supports vehicles to exchange information about the road and environmental conditions to safeguard passengers and drivers ahead. Vehicles which are part of the network often exchanges safety messages to alert drivers about the risk ahead. In addition to the safety messages vehicles also exchanges multi-media contents which represents the entertainment applications such as downloading/uploading a video file. Frequent mobility of vehicles causes rapid changes in the network topology which causes a disruption in communication path between them. In order to improve the availability of data during disconnection,data is replicated on several other nodes.The data can be accessed from the replica node even when the path to destination node is not available. Recent applications such as multi-media streaming demand a strict QoS requirement among nodes to ensure better performance. We propose a technique to allocate replica on nodes that would satisfy the QoS requirements of multimedia applications. We perform a mathematical analysis to prove the benefits obtained by the proposed technique. © 2016,International Journal of Pharmacy and Technology. All rights reserved.
