Abstract
A Microcontroller can be termed as a single on chip computer or a system on chip (SoC) which includes a processor core, data and code memory, GPIO, many on-chip peripherals and communication interfaces. Today Microcontroller are used in every automatically control product and devices such as Office machine, home appliances, power tool, toys, automobile, medical devices, remote control devices etc. The steady and progressive research field gives the embedded industry low power consumption, more efficient, high performance microcontrollers. Today microcontroller manufacturer’s viz. Atmel, Microchip, NXP Semiconductors, Intel etc., are manufacturing many microcontrollers with diversified specifications. Family Series like 8051, PIC, AVR, etc. have different type of architecture-design, on-chip memory type and size, onchip peripherals support, number of I/O Ports, power control support, programming, IDE, compiler, programmer, word size, ISA etc. In this paper we present a comparative analysis on 8051/PIC/AVR family microcontroller series which helps in selection of apt micro-controller for the targeted application. © RJPT All right reserved.
