Abstract
Geopolymer is a term covering a class of synthetic alumino silicate materials with potential use in a number of areas, essentially as a replacement for Portland cement. Geopolymer is a lower carbon dioxide production emission, greater chemical and thermal resistance with better mechanical properties. In our investigation on the behavior of axially loaded geopolymer concrete long column that have been strengthened by wrapping with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) sheets are carried out. Externally reinforced geopolymer concrete column with epoxy bonded GFRP sheets were tested to failure under axially compression and examined several aspects related to the use of GFRP to strengthen the geopolymer concrete long column. In this paper geopolymer concrete slender circular column of size 100mm diameter and length 1420mm were caste, tested and results were compared with ordinary Portland cement concrete column. © 2016 CAFET-INNOVA TECHNICAL SOCIETY.
