Abstract
solar photovoltaic method for power generation is increasingly used nowadays to supplement the grid power. To extract maximum power from the PV panel and to locate the operating point at which the maximum power is delivered to the load is a complex task. This paper aims at developing an analog circuit for maximum power point tracking using constant reference voltage technique. A dc-dc Buck converter is used as maximum power point tracker along with an error amplifier. The PV panel output voltage is compared with a reference voltage provided in an error amplifier and the resulting amplified signal is given to the PWM generator. The duty cycle of the PWM signal is varied continuously according to the PV panel voltage until it fixes the MPP. This PWM signal acts as a gate control voltage for the MOSFET switch of the buck converter. The complete circuit is designed in Multisim, version12 and simulation is carried out for varying PV panel voltage. The result obtained from the simulation proves that this technique is valid for locating the MPP of PV panel. This technique is simple and cost effective which is suitable for real time implementation also. The experimental analysis and simulation report of the MPPT is presented here. © Research India Publications.
