Abstract
A Radio over fiber (ROF) link with millimeter wave Single Side Band (SSB) optical signal based upon Optical Carrier Suppression (OCS), is transmitted to access multiband signals simultaneously with the frequencies of 20GHz, 40GHz and 60GHz using nested Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) is proposed. Four tones are generated by modulation but, only one tone carry the data. The other three are unmodulated. Therefore the dispersion gets reduced. At the base station depending upon the requirement of users the tones are decomposed to three single side band signals by two Fiber Bragg grating with reflective wavelength. Frequency of 60GHz has better performance than 20GHz and 40GHz in terms of Bit error rate. We have also proposed an uplink for 20GHz SSB signal using one of the unmodulated signals which further reduces the cost. © 2017 IEEE.
