This paper describes the modeling, simulation and analysis of wind driven self-excited induction generator is connected to the local load through an ACDC- AC (DC Link) converter scheme. The self-excited induction generator used in wind energy conversion system (WECS) has the inherent problem of fluctuations in the magnitude and frequency of its terminal voltage with changes in wind velocity and load. To overcome this drawback the variable magnitude, variable frequency voltage at the generator terminals is rectified and the dc power is transferred to the local load through a PWM inverter. The power flow analysis is carried out for different wind velocities. Through simulation, the maximum power extracted from the wind energy conversion system is predetermined and the results are presented. © Research India Publications.
