Abstract
Toll roads are occupied to collect the construction and maintenance costs through a user-pay method. In the area of smart toll collection systems, RFID, intelligent program is made to pay the duty so as to lower manual efforts and save time. Electronic toll collection (E-Tolls) helps to avoid detain on toll roads by collecting tolls automatically. The system checks whether the vehicles passing are registered in the system database, notifies the authority for those that are not, and helps the users as it automatically debits the accounts of enrolled vehicle owners and they don't even have to stop in the toll stations. However, these systems lack security to a notable measure. In our work, we are using a light weight algorithm with the help of Ping Pong-l28 stream cipher for the generation of One Time Password (OTP). This algorithm takes security as well as efficiency into the consideration. We are generating random digit in our algorithm to create a variable with four digit OTP which protects from attacks and makes it difficult for the hackers to identify password. We develop an android based application for the users to pay the toll so as to make toll management user-friendly and secure. © Research India Publications.
