Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique has been applied for multi-junction solar cell system. The solar panels are made up of different materials and give constant output from Boost converter. The main aim of PSO is to find out duty cycle to the Boost converter to maintain constant output voltage irrespective of power produced by solar panels. A detailed simulation of the proposed method has been simulated in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation result shows that this design can be effectively realized in practical applications. © 2016 IEEE.

Maximum power point tracking for PV panels using ant colony optimization

This paper presents a robust stochastic search algorithm called particle swarm optimization (PSO) to resolve the optimum switching angles for 7-level cascaded multilevel inverter (MLI) to eliminate selected harmonics in order to get low total harmonic distortion (THD) by taking the resultant equations of the output voltage THD of an inverter as an objective function. The simulation is carried out on a 7-level cascaded inverter to ensure the accuracy of the projected technique. Results show that 5th and 7th harmonics are effectively suppressed at faster converging rate and show how the THD varies with modulation index. © Springer India 2015.

Elimination of Harmonics in Seven-Level Cascaded Multilevel Inverter Using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique

This paper focus on modeling and simulation of Photovoltaic (PV) system by using improved mathematical model. Improved mathematical model which is used to study the changes in different parameter and effects on the PV array such as operating temperature and solar irradiation level improved. In this paper PSO-Fuzzy algorithm is proposed for MPPT control. The proposed algorithm will find the suitable duty ratio in order to maximize the power output of DC-DC converter. The proposed PSO-Fuzzy MPPT controller can work in the maximum power point for the complete range of solar data (temperature and solar irradiance level). © Springer India 2015.

Design of PSO-Fuzzy MPPT Controller for Photovoltaic Application

The use of solar energy is increased now due to its renewable and pollution-free characteristics. The grid connected dc-ac inverters are largely needed for solar power generation which can be used for power transmission and distribution. The electrical power supplied by the solar arrays depends on temperature, isolation and array voltage. It is therefore necessary to adopt MPPT in order to bring the solar array operating voltage near the peak power point. It will help in drawing maximum possible power from the array. This paper presents various techniques used for achieving this target and compares them with each other to know the benefits and drawbacks with each method.Keywords: MPP, P&O, IC, PV, TF.
