Abstract
Multimedia Databases are the backbone of Multimedia Presentations. We need to impart certain control knowledge to Multimedia databases so that it delivers effective presentations. In this paper, we describe how Multimedia Synchronizations can be handled within the database and we have given prior importance to concurrency control. Active Databases helps in applying control knowledge to the database. They do so with the help of Event Condition Action (ECA) Rules. We have designed a Synchronization model for distributed multimedia systems. We have used a Synchronization model, Sync Ruler and then applied this to the multimedia database and also adopted a presentation Synchronization database, Pressbase as a base model. We have proposed a new methodology to achieve concurrency control in online transactions. © 2008 IEEE.
