Abstract
In this paper, a circularly polarized ring shaped dielectric resonator antenna has been presented. The proposed antenna consists of a ring shape dielectric resonator (DR) and cross-slot feed, which offers 10-dB impedance bandwidth of 48.81% at centre frequency 4.63 GHz and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 6.51% (θ = 00, Φ = 00) at centre frequency 5.37 GHz. The proposed antenna shows average peak gain of 5.23 dB and average radiation efficiency of 88.48% in working band (3.50-5.76 GHz). It has been observed that the right hand circular polarization (RHCP) is stronger in broadside direction by -25 dB at 5.24 GHz and -24.5 dB at 5.37 GHz. It is suitable for Wi-MAX applications. Results have also been verified by Ansoft HFSS and CST Microwave Studio. © 2015 IEEE.
