Abstract
Cloud computing technology is very useful today for sharing the data freely with the group of companies which are working under a single umbrella. It has very large volume of storage space which is used to store the large volume of data. Generally, the embedded systems are working based on microcontrollers mainly. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology can make customers swarm. Wi-Fi devices are used to transmit the data in large distance over a network with no centralized control. In this paper, we propose a new cloud based Point of Sale (POS) system for smart shopping cart with RFID reader which is fixed to the cart that can read the products RFID tag and it is also attached to each product of the shop. The individual price of each product is scanned by the reader that will be displayed in the LCD display which is also fixed to the cart. Finally, the total amount will also be displayed. This final amount and bill details will be synced to a cloud server which will be connected to the main system in the shop where they can generate the bills. With this the problem of waiting for bill near the bill counters can be rectified. As advancement to this project we can also add a credit/debit card payment system can also be attached with the cart which will make the shopping more easy and comfortable. The microcontroller used in this project is raspberry pi. Moreover, we propose a secured storage and access algorithm for secured storage and access the data on cloud. The goal of this work is to provide an efficient POS system to avoid the queue or reduce the waiting time in malls and markets and for customer happiness. © 2018, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
