Abstract
The fast increase of connections between network hosts and highly traffic networks are the major reason to improve reliable and converged networks. Network gateway is uses to connect one network with other networks. So gateway is necessary for communication between networks. To implement a network the first major things are to know how to handle the failures in the network, convergence time and load balancing. If gateway of the network fails then the total network fails to communicate with other connected networks. So to overcome this problem must use the redundancy protocols. In this paper Hot Standby Redundancy Protocol (HSRP) and Gateway Load Balancing Protocol (GLBP) redundancy protocols are reviewing and optimized to overcome gateway failures and load balancing. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) are compared to implement layer 2 converged networks to achieve better convergence time. © Research India Publications.
