Cosmological models with a cosmological term in Nordtvedt's theory, a general scalar-tensor theory, have been discussed. Exact solutions of the field equations of Nordtvedt's theory for a spatially flat FRW model have been obtained, keeping the deceleration parameter constant, for three cases viz: (i) Λ = constant (ii) Λ = Λ0t-2 and (iii) Λ ∝ ρ . It has been observed that in the matter dominated era, for values of the deceleration parameter β in the range between -1 and 0, there would be accelerated power-law expansion. © 2015, Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics.
