Abstract
Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) have proved to be an emerging technology to satisfy the challenges in upcoming next generation of networks. Protection of privacy and security have been the primary concerns in bringing towards the success of WMNs. Huge number of solutions being proposed to ensure the security in routing protocol and the privacy concerns in WMNs. Likewise, most of them are based on the assumptions that mostly all nodes cooperate with routing and forwarding packets and the attacks are only from outside. But some of the nodes are compromised within the network, to perform malicious activities. Further, to defend against the inside attacks and to achieve good security and privacy protection, We propose a Cross Layer based Privacy- Preserving Secure Routing Protocol (CPPSRP), which involves a Cross Layer based dynamic reputation mechanism and a hierarchical key management protocol. Results on simulation show that CPPSRP forecasts the inside attacks effectively by employing cross layer based routing metrics with better security and privacy protection. And also the proposed protocol provides secured high performance reliable routing path when compared to classical hybrid wireless mesh protocol. © Research India Publications.
