Internet of Things (IoT) is used to provide the interfacing of physical devices with the help of internet. IoT is also used to sense and control these devices remotely. With the help of sensors, IoT is used to connect the physical devices, called as things, with the cloud server. Now with that cloud server user can be able to control the device and send their commands. After the cloud receives the command from user, it sends the signal to the physical device and device then perform the intended action. Various types of microcontroller are used for mapping command to signals such as Arduino Board, Raspberry pi card, Hardware interface module and lot more. For connection of device to internet we IoT uses various wireless radios such as: Wi-Fi, low-energy Bluetooth, NFC, RFID, Zig Bee, Z-wave etc. In this paper, the implementation of IoT for home automation system, and comparison of various technologies used for home automation system considered on their cost, performance, security, reliability, power consumption etc. were discussed. © 2016, International Journal of Pharmacy and Technology.
