Design and analysis of a new airfoil for rc aircrafts and uavs

Abstract
U.A.Vs and RC aircrafts are high in demand in today’s world where it is being used in medical aid package deliveries and surveillance, much research in their construction, design and materials etc. are going on but not much is being done when it comes to the airfoils which are used in them (Generally a high lift-low Reynolds number airfoil is used).Through this project what we aim to do is to create our own air foil compare and contrast with the airfoils already being used and design it such that it is better than the already pre-existing ones. We will use softwares like XFLR5 (MIT SOFTWARE), ANSYS and SolidWorks to design and analyse the airfoil. There will be a detailed compare/contrast between the currently used or commonly used high performance airfoils and the airfoils that are designed by us. A 3-D print of the airfoils will be taken so that the subtle differences in the airfoil characteristics can be demonstrated. Thrust or power source will be the constant and it will be also assumed that the fuselage and the rest of the aircraft remains same making the airfoil the only differentiating factor. Our hope is that through this project we will be able to design an airfoil which has high performance characteristics as compared to the rest of them. © IAEME Publication
