Abstract
In this paper, anovel 17 level symmetric cascaded multilevel inverter isdesigned and implemented.The proposed symmetric cascaded multilevel inverter using sub multi cells can generate more voltage levels at the load with a minimum number of switches,less number of DC sources, with relatively low THD. The equipment is interfaced with a dSPACE RTI 1101. This multilevel inverteriscapable of generating ahigher number of voltage levels with generally low THD that givesenergy savings and better power quality. The load disturbance is also testedexperimentally with unity power factor load to lagging power factor load and vice versa. Results show that the inverter topologyis better stabilized during load disturbancesand suitable for renewable energy applications. © 2017, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc.
