Abstract
This work presents a new isolated high gain dc.-dc Snubberless converter for solar (PV) energy sources. The presented converter is useful to micro grid or stand-alone applications. The conventional converter uses active or passive clamp for effective recycling of inductor energy and switch voltage stress. Due to passive element used in passive snubber further switching losses are increased whereas in active snubber, eventhough switch voltage stress reduced significantly but number of components used in converter are increased hence cost also. The proposed converter uses secondary modulation technique which avoids the use of active or passive snubber. In this technique by proper designing of switching pulses and making use of snubber device capacitance and transformer leakage inductance, all main switches are turned off by zero current switching. Hence the converter efficiency also increases. The proposed converter is modeled and simulated in PSIM software. The detailed analysis of the proposed converter is presented here. The converter was simulated for a wide range input voltage of 22-41V and an output of 200V is obtained with 1:2 isolation transformer turns ratio. © Research India Publications.
