Abstract
This work describes a novel way to decide which is the ideal place to place a Internet of Things (IoT) base-station based on a Received signal strength indicator (RSSI) scan of a given set of GPS co-ordinates of an area. A clustering algorithm is deployed to group which locations are the most suitable locations for deploying the base station. The locations will be perfectly suited to keep a base station for a huge IoT mesh. With IoT rapidly gaining popularity in every industry a base station placement analysis is the key to a interference free IoT mesh. This work uses a Drone mounted with a Raspberry Pi for maneuverability so the analysis is performed from the ground station, which only consists of a console, and all the data is available through a cloud. The Raspberry, substitutes the function of a personal computer (PC) to the domain of sensor network, making it a perfect platform for computing external peripherals. RSSI value measured can be used for further analysis if required. © 2019 IEEE.
