Abstract
Majority of the appliances in a typical home such as LED lights, laptops, LED TVs, washing machines, computers, use a final DC input whereas our supply which we are using today is AC. The DC approach will help to eliminate or reduce the high utilization of AC-DC converters embedded in several appliances and are replaced with a centralized high efficiency rectifier and a couple of DC-DC converters thus by reducing losses to 10%-15% from the existing 20%-40%. As all the DC-DC converters are non-linear in nature different types of controllers have been designed according to the system in order to maintain entire system stable in all conditions. The total system is coordinated with the Energy management system for its efficient working and to maintain constant voltage from solar pv and battery sources. Energy management system decides the modes of operation of the converters. It generally works in two modes one in constant voltage mode and the other in MPPT mode. This method is adopted to control the power consumed by the system and also to regulate the DC bus voltage by using battery source. The other advantage of the proposed system is its higher compatibility of DC power with storage. The simulation results of EMS has been verified along with theoretical results. © 2017 IEEE.
