Abstract
This paper proposes Demand Side Management(DSM) strategy to reduce the stress in the residential distribution system embedded with electric vehicles. The growing demand for EVs causes some challenges toward the distribution system. The EVs are frequently charged in residential areas, with unplanned EV charging, the low voltage (LV) distribution network has to face challenges to meet the new load requirements. If the impact of this is not assessed and corrected, it is required to replace or reinforce the distribution system which is extravagant and tedious. Demand Side Load Management strategy could be an alternative for the replacement of the distribution system, with which the most awful power peaks might be avoided. In this paper, two DSM algorithms are proposed and corresponding results are presented. The effect of the originally scheduled EV loads has been compared with the results obtained by the application of DSM algorithms. © 2019 IEEE.
