Abstract
with the latest advancement in electronics, a new design of gear indication has been proposed in this paper for the driver comfort and safety purpose while riding the two wheelers. This proposed system depends on sensing of gear shift lever movement without any physical contact for the display of the gear position by placing hall sensors outside the frame of the vehicle. The new system consists of LCD display, Hall Effect sensors and also the permanent magnets that are placed on the gear shift lever. The main objective of this work is to display the gear number on the vehicle dash board based on the sensor and the associated signal processing circuit for easy purpose of the driver to know in which gear the driver is moving and also to avoid the accidents due to the sudden changing of the gear by ignoring the current status of the gear position. The added advantage of this proposed system may result an implementation of a low cost sensor system to the users for real time application in all low cost two wheelers. © Research India Publications.
