Abstract
The control of an islanded microgrid with high renewable energy source penetration is more complex and challenging because of low inertia and intermittent nature of the distributed generators. To address the continually changing load demand and intermittent power generation, this paper proposes a distributed voltage and frequency control scheme that exhibits globally bounded convergence time. Moreover, the proposed control is fully distributed and independent of microgrid test system parameters. The proposed control law only requires the local and neighbors information and can be implemented over the sparse communication network. The efficacy of the proposed control scheme is verified under load variation, communication topology change, and disconnection of DG unit by pursuing a simulation study on a 5-bus MG test system in MATLAB/SimPowerSystem environment. The results show that the scheme effectively rejects the load disturbance and DG disconnection, and also perform efficiently under different communication structure. © 2019 IEEE.
