Abstract
Demand side management and demand response resource are going to be the de facto of the future of the energy engineering and that will enable the consumers to reduce their electricity bill and give relief to the utility when it is in stress. Many researches were carried out in this regard ranging from direct load control to using heuristic techniques along with Microgrid. This paper presents a simple solution to the domestic demand side management for south Indian atmosphere by shifting the schedulable loads with intelligent technique to the Non-peak periods in a different unit price for peak and non-peak hour’s scenario. The problem can be refined further by optimizing parameters like consumer’s comfort and expected load. Energy consumption price can be reduced further by operating standalone PV system along with the fuzzy operated demand side management system. To justify the core Idea of reducing electricity price without sacrificing consumer’s comfort, a comparative study has been done and it is shown along with the simulation results. © Research India Publications.
