Dual Band Coplanar Waveguide Fed Antenna With Dual Polarization Characteristics

This letter presents a multi band antenna which exhibits both circular polarized and linear polarized characteristics. A rectangular slot is etched in the ground plane and is energized by coplanar waveguide feed. Grounded stub is placed in the close proximity of the radiating patch inorder to produce circular polarization. The proposed antenna exhibits dual band characteristics with lower band circular polarized and upper band linear polarized. Undesired higher order modes are suppressed by using a rectangular stub directly attached to the feed line. The overlapping circular polarized lower band i.e. VSWR ≤ 2 dB and Axial ratio ≤ dB extends from 3.02 GHz-4.04 GHz while linear polarized higher band extends from 5.05 GHz-5.94 GHz, thereby proposed antenna covers WiMAX and WLAN application bands. © 2018 IEEE.
