Abstract
The future Internet of Things IoT applications require long range, high rate and reliable wireless links. To support IoT applications, IEEE 802.11 standardization group defined a new amendment ah with improved physical and link layer functionalities. To achieve a target range of 1Km and a minimum data rate of 100Kbps, dual-hop relay stations RSs are introduced in IEEE 802.11ah. The analytical model and simulation results presented in the paper, confirms that through the proper deployment of RSs, IEEE 802.11ah can become a flexible solution for IoT applications. © 2018 IEEE.
