An earthquake monitoring and prediction system is proposed in this paper that uses the Smart Dust technology. Of the various networking strategies available in the literature, the ones suitable for the proposed design are chosen. A case is also made for an Operating System that optimizes the proposed design. A simulation template for the real-world modelling of the proposed design using a suitable network simulation tool is presented and discussed. In foresight of the simulation, a new low storage message format for message exchange in the proposed design is presented. Strategies to apply a suitable prediction algorithm while dealing with the big-data that the proposed design creates are also laid out. © IJSTR 2020.
