Abstract
Natural fiber polymer composites occupy the major applications in current decades due to eco-friendly and cost effective nature. In this study, crab shell unitswere utilized as reinforcement with agave sisalana fibres epoxy composites at various compositions such as 0%, 2%, 4% and 6%. The hardness, mechanical properties and water absorption of the composites were investigated. Majorenhancement in Vickers hardness, compressive strength and percentage drop of water absorption was noted. The optimal composites concentration was noted at 4 wt.% of crab shell particles in the agave sisalana hybrid composites. The study conducted, it is evident that addition of crab shell particles with agave sisalana hybrid composites will improve the composites properties. © 2020 Author(s).
