Abstract

In this paper, we study the effect of induced magnetic field on peristaltic pumping of a Carreau fluid in an inclined symmetric channel filled with porous material under the long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions. The flow is analyzed using a perturbation expansion in terms of small Weissenberg number. The expressions for the velocity, axial pressure gradient, pressure rise and frictional force over one cycle of wavelength are obtained. The effects of various emerging parameters on pumping characteristics and frictional forces are discussed through graphs. For free pumping (AP = 0), the flux Q decreases with the increase in Magnetic parameter or permeability parameter or Weissenberg parameter and as the angle of inclination of the channel (0 < a < 900) increases the pressure rise also increases for a given flux. Further for a given pressure rise the flux increases with an increment in the amplitude ratio.
