Abstract
File transferring applications in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) has advance developments in recent years. But at times there occurs some problems in networks due to network coverage area and mobility of nodes. In order to overcome these problems the concept of file replicas has been developed. With this concept, the files replicas are created based on the node storage and meeting frequency of the nodes. In this concept there occurs minimum querying delay at lower cost but when the file dynamics change such as when more files gets added or deleted, there occurs a problem in makingreplicas. In this paper we use the concept of chord for file sharing so that replication problems can be avoided. DHT is used for minimizing the node querying delay. It uses the chord algorithm with SHA-1 as the base function and also avoids the replication cost. The performance analysis shows that the proposed algorithm provides a better look up of files and yields good results. © Research India Publications.
