This paper presents the application of Fuzzy logic based Sliding Mode Control (FSMC) to a drum-type boiler-turbine system. Proportional Integral (PI) controller, Sliding Mode Control (SMC) and FSMC are designed with the linearization of the nonlinear plant model. Then, the control performance of the FSMC based on the drum type boiler turbine system model is evaluated. Drum water-level dynamics has severe nonlinearity; it is observed that the simulation of the linearized model shows satisfactory results. Chattering effect of both controllers is examined and controller performance are measured.
