Energy efficient heterogeneous network with daily load variation

This paper considers a heterogeneous network consisting of Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output deployed at Macro Base Station (MBS) overlaid with small cells. Soft cell coordination is implemented with Daily load variation for optimisation of total power consumption in the system. The daily load profile records the load variation at different hours of the day. The number of active base station antennas varies with the load and the inactive antennas are put in Sleep mode. The simulation results show significant reduction in total power consumption by the proposed method as compared to implementation of only Soft cell coordination. © 2017 IEEE.
