Abstract
In the present scenario to fulfil the demand of sustainable construction, concrete made with multi-blended cement system of OPC and different cementitious material, is the judicious choice for the construction industry, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and ceramic powder with superplasticiser are used in ternary blended concrete (TBC). Synergy between the contributions of both on the mechanical properties of the concrete is an important factor. This study reports the effect of replacement of OPC by GGBS (5%, 10%, 15% replacement of OPC) and ceramic powder (5%, 10%, 15%) on the mechanical properties of concrete like compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength by keeping the same percentage of superplasticiser in all three mixes. Workability properties were reported. Tests were done for 7 days and 28 days of normal water curing. The maximum percentage of cement replaced was 30% by its weight in the conventional concrete which will reduce the consumption of cement. © 2015, Associated Cement Companies Ltd. All rights reserved.
