Abstract
In this research work focuses on performance study on slow static crushing characteristic and the energy absorption of nine different geometrical shapes of composite tubes. The shapes of tubes are manufactured by hand lay-up technique. The composite tubes are as follows: woven natural silk fabric with polyester (composite 1)/epoxy (composite 2), cotton fabric with polyester (composite 3)/epoxy (composite 4) resin. A total of 36 Samples are prepared and its dimensions are taken from earlier research. Among the composites, the composite 2, having hexagonal geometrical shapes, shows the maximum crushing load of 2.82 kN and energy absorption of about 53.62%. © IAEME Publication.
