Abstract
Context: Offshore and on-site teams' partnership quality has been key predictors to achieve high quality software and reduce cost in the case of Global Software Development (GSD) projects from the software service provider perspective in India. Aim: Our research aim is to build a unified and theoretically grounded research model which specifies the different dimensions of offshore and onsite teams partnership quality and underlying the influencing factors towards the outcome of GSD projects. Objective: Specifically, our study focused on the measurement of perceived partnership quality factors (knowledge sharing, trust, commitment and requirements flow down) between offshore and on-site teams rather than gap analysis, as earlier research has indicated the partnership quality factors influence the outcome of GSD projects. Method: The purpose of this study is to specify the working relationship between offshore and onsite teams in the outsourcing on-going stage based on Social Exchange Theory (SET) perspective. To explore the influence of partnership quality factors towards the outcome of GSD projects from the service provider perspective into three dimensions: schedule, cost improvement, and service quality. This study employs survey research methods to empirically validate the research model based on the data collected from 338 software professionals for their view of GSD projects in India. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
