Abstract
A new single-stage-single-switch (S4) transformer less converter that integrates a buck-type power-factor correction cell and also buck type dc-dc output cell for stepping down voltage in a special way is presented in this paper. This new topology preserves the advantages of presently available transformer-less S4 converters, like voltage stress is low across the dc link capacitor, current stress of the switch is low and input to output high step down voltage. Here the new proposed converter gives a new feature, i.e., its input side power factor will be constant even when load and line conditions vary. For these characteristics the proposed converter becomes cost efficient and suitable for the non-isolated, low power applications. The proposed converter's principle and analysis is presented here in this paper. Simulation and hardware performance of the converter is also discussed in this paper. © 2016 IEEE.
